State to design multi-media campaign

Manipur has been entrusted the task of designing a multi-media campaign for National print and social media for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India (ECI) .
The ECI assigned the task to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur for carrying out an impressive multi-media campaign "I'm ready" on Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) in connection with the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls last year.
Speaking to media persons at his Lamphelpat office today, CEO PK Singh said that the Facebook posts on the State's SVEEP campaign registered 60,000 likes and Manipur occupies second position behind Tamil Nadu and Telengana.
For the first time in the State, braille elector photo identity cards and braille voter slips to blind voters of the State, PK Singh announced.
Informing that there are over 800 blind voters in the State, the CEO informed that necessary arrangements are being made for them as well as other disabled persons so that they too can exercise the right to vote.
Around 4000 disabled persons are listed in the State's electoral roll and they have been marked.
Special arrangements are being made to facilitate them exercise the right to vote without undue difficulty, he said.
The CEO also informed that Manipur is the first State in the whole country to have its electoral roll published in the ECI's ERO NET.
The electoral roll published on January 11 includes 26 transgenders.
The State's total number of voters has reached 19,30,912.As per a draft list, there are 16,643 service voters, and an intensive revision of the service voters is going on presently.
The final list of service voters would be published on February 22, informed the CEO.

be done before nomination papers are filed for the Lok Sabha election, PK Singh claimed that photographs of all voters have been affixed in the electoral roll and elector photo identity cards (EPIC) have been generated.
Distribution of EPICs will start from January 25, the National Voters' Day and toll free number would be launched on the same day, he said.
Respective ROs will feed the postal ballots in the system and recording officers of army and paramilitary units would deliver the postal ballots to service voters and sent back.
There would be no need for physical delivery of postal ballot papers in the new system, he said.
Daily cash transaction limit for all Lok Sabha candidates would be reduced to Rs 10,000 (outgoing plus incoming) from the previous limit of Rs 20,000, and all transactions should be done through crossed cheque or e-transfer.
Saying that the ECI would use cVIGIL app in the Lok Sabha election in order to check activities which violate the model code of conduct, the CEO appealed to the public to download the app from Google Play Store.
For photographic and videographic complaints received through the app, necessary action would be initiated within 100 hours, he continued.
Surrendered militants or cadres of militant groups under SoO pact would be given voting opportunity at their respective designated camps, PK Singh said.

If any name is found missing or erroneous, the same may be inserted or rectified.
On the other hand, the CEO held a meeting with SPs of the State's different districts this afternoon and discussed about security aspects of the Lok Sabha election.
