Unions appeal for passage of vehicles stranded at Jiribam

Jiribam, January 17 2019:
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers Union and All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union today appealed the Chief Ministerto look into the many loaded trucks/vehicles stranded at Leingangpokpi, Jiribam for 'exceeding weight limit'.
Questioning the legality and functioning of the weight bridge at Shamupunbi (Gularthon), general secretary of All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers Union, Maimom Anil Meitei, at Jiri News Network's press conference hall, said that the truck drivers are facing immense problems at Leingangpokpi.
Demanding passage for the vehicles to proceed towards Imphal, he said that the stranded trucks have goods/materials which are much needed by the people.
Their stay at Jiribam will suffer people of the State, he said.
Urging the authorities concerned and Chief Minister to look into the matter, the unions cautioned that they will call total bandh on National Highway No 2 (Imphal-Dimapur) if the matter is not solved at the earliest.
All Manipur Road Transport Drivers & Motor Workers Union joint secretary Kh Sanjoy Singh, office secretary, Salam Dhane Singh and All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers' Union president Mutum Tombabu Singh, vice president Pratap Sanasam and other executive members attended the press meet.
