Tobacco products seized

Ahead of the Sangai Festival the President's visit to the State, a combined team of CDO and Special Task Force (STF) Jiribam District Police intensified frisking and checking in and around Jiribam as a part of the security measures.
The frisking and checking was conducted at various places of Jiribam under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Jiribam Mubi Moirangthem (IPS) and under the command of Additional SP, Jiribam K Ajit Kumar Sharma.
During the checking yesterday^ a team of Jiribam District Police led by Sub-Inspector Krishna seized a huge quantity of tobacco products from two locations.
According to police source, one Haran Das (30) of Digli, Jirighat, Cachar owned a shop at Kalinagar Pt-II , Jiribam from where 19 packets of Baba Zarda, 22- packets of S-10 tobacco, 272- packets of VI tobacco, 220 pieces of Reli tobacco (Khaini) were seized at around 7.00 pm.
On the other hand, at around 11: 00 pm 700 packets of Win Cigarette were seized from Lakhipur, Jiribam from the possession of one Md Abdul Rahim who is a residence of Lakhipur Manipuri Village, Cachar, Assam.
According to source, the seized tobacco products will be handed over to the Food Safety Authority.
