Imphal, December 24 2009:
Considering the act that Congress candidate Elangbam Suraj won the by-election to the Yaiskul A/C by securing only 9799 votes as against total 9817 votes received in favour of other three candidates, the ruling party should understand that the people have started losing faith on the Government, JD (S) candidate in the by-election Soubam Rajendrakumar has stated.
Addressing a press conference today, Rajendrakumar contended that the success of Congress candidate Suraj does not meant that the public are in support of the corruption and daily incident of killings being perpetrated by the ruling SPF Government.
The success of the Congress party in the by-election by a whisker was just due to a wrong step o the Opposition parties.
Explaining that he contested in the by-election to teach a lesson to the Government, Rajendrakumar observed that the mental satisfaction gained in standing up against the Government was a victory for him.
It is also satisfying to note from the experiences of the just concluded by-election that there are many people in Yaiskul A/C who are not influence by money power.
Such people would definitely bring about a change in Manipur, Rajendrakumar added.
