Activists of AMADA Lilong Arapti unit apprehended four persons on January 1 and seized 92 litres of illicit liquor which had been destroyed on January 2 evening at Lilong Arapti Thongkhong area, said a release of the anti-drug/alcohol campaigners.
The four individuals, who had been subsequently handed over to their respective family members/elders are identified as konsam ibosana (28) s/o (L) K Achou of arapti Mamang Leikai, Konthoujam Nabakeshore (29) s/o (L) Sanahongba of Arapti Mayai Leikai, Naorem Sunil (42) s/o N Tomba of Arapti Mayai Leikai and Wahengbam Gondri (29) s/o W Yaima of Arapti Mamang leikai.
The AMADA release also accused one Konthoujam Badal Singh (31) s/o K Kondum of Arapti Mayai Leikai of intimidating volunteers of the AMADA unit when they (volunteers) went to raid the house of two time offender K Nabakeshore.
Moreover, two other individuals named as Wahengbam Dharamsing (32) s/o W Irabot of Arapti Mamang Leikai and Wahengbam Dolen (35) s/o W Bira of arapti Mamang Leikai are also alleged to have used the armed KYKL's name to exert pressure upon AMADA activists for release of Wahengbam Gandhi, who was earlier apprehended while transporting alcohol on a scooter (MN1B/5034) .
In connection with the alleged threats AMADA has called upon organisation concerned to probe the matter to enable its volunteers sustain the ongoing campaigns to cleanse the Manipuri society from the menace of alcohol and substance abuse.
