NSUI Manipur State urges Govt for proper maintenance of DM University

Imphal, June 12 2018: National Students' Union of India, Manipur State has expressed gratitude to the authorities concerned who are taking core responsibilities in the establishment of DM University while conveying that it is a good move on the part of the Govt.NSUI Manipur State has, for the last two months, kept a close watch on every details taken up so far for setting up DM campus as DM University, in terms of infrastructure development and the rate of progress.

A press release issued by president of NSUI Manipur State stated that the State Govt should take the voices of the student bodies seriously while adding that the authorities concerned should take a pro-active step in improving the infrastructure of the university, which looks like a simple institute currently.

"No concrete and systematic design of a university could be seen so far", it alleged.

It further stated that well known and easily available guidelines, norms or structures which a university should maintain, are missing in the case of DM university.

Intellectuals, experts, academicians, officials of higher education, Govt and leaders of different student bodies should exchange their ideas in order to achieve the best outcome, it added.

The Government as well as the authorities concerned should further set up a clear short term and a long term vision about the university, it added.

Despite the allocation of Rs 55 crore per university, under Central scheme of RUSA, 2013, no infrastructure improvements nor progressive works could be seen in DM College of Science, DM College of Arts, DM College of Commerce, DM College of Teacher's Education, Hindi Teachers training Institute, GP Women's College and LMS Law College, it alleged.

Questioning the failure of the authorities concerned to take up these developmental works, NSUI Manipur State asked why the Govt is in a hurry to announce the new academic session of 2018-2019 with zero infrastructure developments.

It further questioned where the authorities concerned have invested the sanctioned funds.

NSUI Manipur State urged the authorities concerned to increase the number of intake of students as well as the courses and to finalise the required teaching and non teaching staff at the earliest.

"There are hardly two working months left to finish any developmental process as monsoon is approaching", it asserted.

NSUI strongly urged the authorities concerned to commence the works seriously in order to bring rapid progress.

It also cautioned to address any ill practices to the higher authority if any kind of funds sanctioned are found misused by the authorities concerned while urging the Department of Higher Education and concerned authorities to maintain transparency while carrying out the developmental works.
