Ranjita murder: JAC to launch intense agitation

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the murder of Lourembam Ongbi Ranjita of Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai has resolved to launch intense agitation if the State Government does not announce capital punishment for the alleged murderer of Ranjita by November 1 next month.
The resolution was taken today during a meeting convened by the JAC along with several civil society organizations of the State including UCM, UMO, AMKIL, CHINGMI-TAMMI, Women Development Samaj, NIPCO, MAPI, Thoubal District Women's Development Organization and Apunba Nupi Khunai Lamjing Meira Lup.
During the meeting, the leaders of the CSOs strongly condemned the heinous murder of Lourembam Ranjita, and demanded the authorities to award death penalty to the alleged murderer Laishram Ibomcha.
The JAC also sought help from legal experts and public in delivering swift justice to the family members of the victim.
It may be mentioned that Lourembam Ongbi Ranjit was found murdered in a paddy field at Kakmayai Mamang Loukol under Yairipok Police Station on August 2 this year.
The accused Laishram Ibomcha is currently in the jail and a charge-sheet has been framed against him in the court of CJM, Thoubal.
