Imphal, October 27 2017:
With the IOC not yielding to their demand, the All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association (AMBTA) has resumed their cease work strike from today.
As such, transportation of bulk LPG to the State would cease from tomorrow .
There are 41 Sekmai-based LPG bulk transporters and they have 152 bulk LPG TTs .
Out of the 41 Sekmai-based LPG transporters, some have two/three TTs while some others have four/five TTs each .
On October 6, IOC issued a notification to increase the existing fleet of bulk LPG TTs by 42 and the same notification encompassed TTs operating from other loading points.
AMBTA has been demanding cancellation of the same notification and incorporation of one TT each of the existing 41 Sekmai-based bulk LPG transporters .
The 48 hours deadline served by AMBTA expired yesterday.
As no positive response was forthcoming, they resumed their cease work strike from today .
Notably, AMBTA undertook cease work strike from last Friday to Monday on the same demand .
Even as AMBTA has resumed cease work strike from today, 30 loaded bulk LPG TTs stranded at Khatkhati arrived at Sekmai bottling plant this morning.
All the TTs were unloaded today .
Even though, CRPF convoy must move today as per schedule, no empty bulk LPG trucks moved today .
Highlighting the need to increase the number of Sekmai-based bulk LPG TTs in order to improve LPG supply to consumers, the State Govt wrote to the IOC to increase the number of bulk TTs.
Subsequently, IOC issued a notification to enlarge the existing fleet of bulk TTs by 42.The IOC has been awaiting an intimation from the State Govt regarding what it exactly expects from enlarging the fleet of bulk TTs.
However, there has been no response till date.
