MSMC conducts medical camp

The Manipur State Minorities Commission in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer (Thoubal), a team of dedicated doctors, representatives of National Rural Health Mission, various pharmaceutical agencies and volunteers of local clubs/organisations organised a free health check-up camp at Sangaiyumpham (Nungou) Girls Madarsah in Thoubal district.
The medical check-up camp held today from 10 am till 4 pm during which nearly 500 patients were covered, was organised as a part of the Commission's series of free health check-up cum awareness camps with special emphasis at minority concentrated areas in thoubal and Imphal East districts, said a Commission release issued by its Secretary.
As the Commission is of the view that Muslim girls pursuing education at Madarsahs belong to the most backward community among the minorities in terms of knowledge on health care and hygiene during the period of adolescence and puberty, special attention was given to these girls, the secretary informed adding that Ulemas and the general public were also covered at the occasion.
The Commission release further conveyed of its Chairperson A Halim Choudhury expressing deep gratitude to all concerned who contributed their mite in the successful conduct of the camp in addition to calling upon all to attend such health camps to be organised in due course of time.
