Imphal, March 22 2018:
The bio-mobile toilets installed along Kanglapat road for the convenience of the public, but which have ironically been kept locked since their installation, are now opened 24 hours from today.
Speaking to media persons at his office inside New Secretariat today, MAHUD Minister, Th Shyamkumar informed that the bio-mobile toilets were not opened to the public as there were still some works left and there were some misunderstandings between the Department officials as well.
He said that the bio-mobile toilets have to be used by a limited amount of individuals per day for the first few days after its installation.

There is also the need of creating awareness among the public regarding the difficulties in cleaning the bio-mobile toilets in case the people litter inside them as detergents and soaps cannot be used in cleaning these toilets.
Many people of the State eat paan, chew tobacco products and have the habit of smoking cigarettes while going to the toilets.
However, the bio-toilets installed alongside Kangla moat will be opened round the clock from today onwards in view of the public needs, he stated.
The Minister appealed to all the people to consider the toilets as their own property and not to litter inside the toilets while using them.
Shyamkumar also apologised for the inconvenience caused to the public during the last few months and appreciated local media for reporting about the toilets lying unused.
When asked why dustbins are not kept and fire fighting kits/tools are not installed in front of shops and structures in Imphal city even after the State Government had announced to do so, the Minister informed that the State Government is endeavouring to draft a building by-law to bring Imphal city under systematic control.
Specific dustbins of different sizes will be kept in front of all shops, hotels and other structures in Imphal city very soon, he added.
Public toilets are also being constructed in some locations of Imphal city.
The construction works will be completed within two" months, the Minister added.
Once the proposed building by-laws come into force and the necessary tasks that need to be done under the law are executed, Imphal City will be beautified and people will witness a systematic change, he asserted.
Shyamkumar, who also holds the portfolio of Forest and Environment, confided that locals of Langol Reserve Forest area have provided the name of an individual who is posted as an Inspector in Anti-Corruption Cell, in connection with the incident of burning forest in Langol Reserve Forest recently.
Asserting that the matter will be discussed with the Chief Minister, Shyamkumar added that appropriate actions will be taken against those who violate the Forest Act.
