World Kidney Day observed

Kpi, March 22 2018:
The World Kidney Day was observed at District Hospital, Kangpokpi District yesterday, under the aegis of District Health Society (DHS) while Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) Cells Kangpokpi and NCD Clinic Kangpokpi were formally inaugurated.
Nehgoulen Lhouvum, DCIO, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India, Dr Thangpa Serto, Chief Medical Officer, Kangpokpi and Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate, DNO, NCD Kangpokpi attended the event as dignitaries.
Dr Paotinlal Haokip, Nodal Officer of NCD Clinic Kangpokpi underlined the need to address issues of equitable healthcare access for women where it is currently lacking and to increase awareness and education to facilitate women's access to treatment.
He further said that NCD Clinic Kangpokpi will deliver free screening, free diagnosis and free treatment of common NCDs like Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, etc from today onwards.
Nehgoulen Lhouvum encouraged the health awareness programs undertaken by District Health Society Kangpokpi under National Health Mission.
Dr Ph Henkhoneng Mate emphasized on the important roles of ASHAs in the health sector and further motivated them to impart health awareness to the people.
Free diabetes screening and free kidney function tests were performed to more than 60 persons as part of the observation.
