Seminar on Re-Discovery of Naga Culture held at Ukhrul

One day seminar on re-discovery of Naga culture was held at Ukhrul Talkies, 41 Assam Rifles post, Wino Ukhrul today.
The Seminar was jointly organised by 41 Assam Rifles and Fraternity of East Eyes Line Society (FEELS), Ukhrul.
Resource person, Rowland enlightened the gatherings on the origin of Nagas.
He noted the parallel culture of Nagas with the Chinese of Yunnan province.
He said that the present tribes of Naga and Meitei were mostly the mixture of Khmers, Khams, Siamese Chinese and Ching.
He mentioned that Ching is applied to mountaineers or living in mountain.
Significantly, the migration of Nagas could be traced out from the Khasi Migration (2000- 1000 BC) .
In an explicit deliberation, Sword Vashum talked about the formation of Nagas Club and Nagas self determination movement while pointing out that the Club had submitted a memorandum to Simon Commission in 1928 .
Dwelling on Nagas reputation for their truthfulness and generosity, he urged all concerned to uphold the honour and dignity.
Frontal organisation leaders, social workers, collegians and scholars of the community attended the seminar.
Dr L Sina Khayi, Asst Prof of Pettigrew College was the moderator of the seminar.
The seminar emphasized on the topic on Origin of the Nagas, Evolution of the Nagas, Customary laws of the Nagas and Cultural Heritage and Naga Political Movement.
The Commandant 41 Assam Rifles, Gourav Bose in his speech exhorted the participants to do something unique, bring out the rich Naga culture while assuring utmost cooperation from the Assam Rifles for the welfare of the community.
