Centre asks State response on plebiscite

With the Union Home Ministry demanding to what steps have been taken up in connection with the campaign for plebiscite being conducted in different parts of Manipur, the State Government has instructed the police to take up necessary additional action.
According to an official source, the State Government has given instruction to the police for taking up necessary additional action after the Union Home Ministry demanded to know the update on the steps that have been taken up in connection with the campaign for plebiscite being conducted after chairman of UNLF RK Sanayaima alias Meghen has been arrested and taken into custody by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Confirming the instruction of the State Government, a police officer said that though such an instruction has been received, no action have been so far initiated in connection with the earlier cases registered against the organisers of such campaign or the speakers.
It may be noted here that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had described the campaign for plebiscite as a good sign.
