10 militants surrender

Imphal, May 26 2011:
Ten UGs of different outfits laid down arms before the IGAR (South), Maj Gen CA Krishnan and state's ADGP, V Zathang in a simple ceremony held at IGAR (S) complex.
The 10 UGs who surrendered with arms and ammunition include one each from UNLF, PLA, PREPAK (S), KCP (S) and KCP (MTF) and five cadres from UNPC.
The surrendered cadres included UNLF's S/S Pte No.2229 Ningthoukhongjam Ibotomba aka Konthou (18) son of N Ranjit of Kakching Chumlang, PLA's No.2791 S/S 'Sgt' Thangboi alias Roben alias Timothy (27) son of Hemkhai of Tuibong, Churachandpur, PREPAK (S)'s S/S Pte Sumarjit Meitei alias Apike of Kutoujam, Imphal East, KCP(S)'s No.362 S/S Lance Corporal Ningthemo alias Inao Khomjinba (23) son of S Lukhao Singh of Wangoo Mamang Leikai and KCP (MTF)'s S/S Pte Angom Nanao alias Pishak son of Late Ibocha of Kanglatombi, Sekmai.
The five UNPC cadres are No.076 S/S Cpl BL Arjun @ Sachingba (26) of BL Lungkulinang of New Kabui Khullen, S/S Cpl B L Sangak @ Sachui, son of BL Kutuang of Oktean, Noney, S/S Pte Samphangni @ Achan, son of Hopson of Lamlong, S/S Pte Ningreisem @ Thangrei of Nagining Khul of Thingsong, Senapati and S/S Pte Wistom @ Sauthang son of Ningchung of Leihaviram, Senapati.

They surrendered with four AK-rifles with magazines, one M 16 rifle with magazine, a M-22 rifle with magazine, one Lethode, two 9 mm pistols with magazines and one Kenwood radio set along with a large amount of ammunition.
Speaking at the surrender ceremony, state ADGP V Zanthang welcomed the cadres to the mainstream of civil society.
The ADGP also assured that all facilities will be provided by the state government under the state's existing policy to the surrendered UGs.
Maj Gen, CA Krishnan said that UGs laying down arms to join the mainstream require support from all sections of the society to reintegrate with the main stream.
