Govt holds talk with UG groups

In line with the stated purpose of talking things over the negotiating table, State Government representatives including Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu and the Union Joint Secretary in charge of the North East Shambhu Singh held a series of talks with representatives of the KCP (Lamphel), KYKL (MDF) and the URF at the former's office yesterday and today.
Talking to The Sangai Express a reliable source said that during the talk, the former rebels put up a list of demands, including the formation of an Ideal Village to house them.
The former rebels insisted that the Ideal village should be set up over a site measuring 150 to 300 acres and should have provisions for Martial Arts School under the NIOS, a hospital, school, farming facilities to promote green revolution as well as dairy farms.
After the matter was discussed minutely, it was mutually agreed that a Co-operative Society be set up to study the feasibility of the demands raised by the former rebels, said the source.
The details will be worked out by the society.
Another round of meeting was also held with the UPPK separately today and it was agreed that an MoU would be signed on May 24 between the group and the Government.
