Higher Secondary Examination, 2013 results declared with flaws everywhere

The first ever results of the Higher Secondary Examination, 2013 conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM) based on grading system as per CCE guidelines were declared by Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro at the office of CoHSEM here today, with many visible flaws.
The documents of the results declared by CoHSEM which were handed over to media persons contained a lot to many flaws creating confusion among the candidates.
As a consequence, the toppers in the examination could not be identified at the moment.
Moreover, the grade in which a candidate cleared the examination has not been classified.
Perhaps, on this count, result-sheets were also not supplied to media by officials of CoHSEM even after 2 hours of declaring the results officialy by the Minister.
According to the result-sheets, out of the total 26437 candidates who have appeared in the Science, Arts and Commerce Stream of the examination this year, 21422 of them clear the examination with a pass percentage of 81.03.The pass percentage recorded this time shows a slight decrease of 1.83 percent from last year.
A total number of 12547 girl students and 13890 boy students have appeared in the exam.
Out of them, 10131 girl students and 11191 boy students cleared the exam.
Even though the results declared today did not clearly mention the names of the toppers based on the newly introduced grading system, altogether 43 candidates have been selected as awardees.
In the list of awardees too, the concerned authority has failed to clarify what the categories of the awards are and which candidates have been selected for which awards.
Altogether 6800 candidates in the Arts Stream which included 6470 old course candidates and 330 new course candidates appeared in the exam.
Among them 5094 old course candidates and 143 new course candidates managed to clear the exam.
The pass percentage in this stream was recorded at 77.01. In the Science Stream, altogether 18238 students have appeared in the exam among which 761 of them appeared in the old course while 18999 appeared in the new course.
Among them, 505 students appearing in the old course and another 15800 students appearing in the new course made through the exam with a pass percentage record of 83.16. Altogether 638 candidates, 584 in new course and 54 in old course, have appeared in the examination in the Commerce Stream.
But 385 of them, 361 under new course and 24 under old course, cleared the exam, thus recording a pass percentage of 60.34. Along with the declaring the results of Higher Secondary Examination, an official website of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur www.cohsem.nic.in was launched by Education Minister M Okendro today.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister M Okendro said that with launching of the official website, a long awaited dream of the Council has been fulfilled.
On the other hand, although the results of the examination was declared by minister M Okendro, the necessary documents of the results thus declared were not supplied to media persons even after two hours of the declaration, by the officials of the Council.
