Imphal, November 03 2012:
Taking strong exception to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's statement with regard to the Manipur Legislative Assembly resolution to enforce ILPS in Manipur that 'no sane Indian citizen should adopt such a resolution', MPP advisor and former MLA O Joy has urged the State Government to initiate breach of privilege and contempt of House proceedings against the Union Home Minister.
Joy asserted that the Union Home Minister's statement was derogatory to the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Talking to media persons at Oinam Bazar by the sideline of the ongoing poster campaign for enforcement of ILPS in Manipur, Joy said that the Union Home Minister was mocking parliamentary democracy through his statement which ridiculed the State Assembly resolution.
Representations have been sent to Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj as well as the Lok Sabha Speaker to initiate breach of privilege and contempt of House proceedings against Sushilkumar Shinde for not respecting a State Assembly resolution, Joy said.
In parliamentary democracy, no one has the authority to ridicule any proceeding of the Assembly.
The Indian Parliament too must take up a privilege motion against the Union Home Minister.
The demand for enforcement of ILPS does not necessarily mean driving out non-Manipuris from the State.
It is an attempt to understand the importance of keeping a check on influx.
If the immigrants are given a free passage because the Indian Constitution allows it, Manipuri nation would certainly away into oblivion.
To enforce ILPS in Manipur, the Government of Manipur to make a suitable law at their earliest after due consultation with experts.
Talking about the dialogue between Government of India and NSCN-IM, Joy asked if the people of Manipur have anything to expect from the Union Home Ministry with regard to the territorial integrity
of Manipur.
Warning Congress party not to lie to the people of Manipur, Joy asked Congress leaders if Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde can declare during his scheduled visit to Imphal on November 9 annulment of the Naga Integration Movement which was signed on August 4, 1972 .
The poster campaign was also participated by MPP president S Umananda.
