Handicraft products hit Tokyo fair

Handloom and handicraft products of Manipur were a big hit at the India Show held at Tokyo from June 20 to 22 .
Talking with The Sangai Express, Government officials who took part in the exhibition informed that handloom and handicraft products of the worth 15,000 Yen were sold on the second day of the exhibition.
Many Japanese customers also expressed their keen desire to make handloom and handicraft products of the State available at Japanese markets.
They also proposed the idea of marketing products of the State through internet.
In addition to 80 companies based in India, officials of the Governments of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana and Manipur took part in the India Show with a view to attract foreign investment and promote products of their respective States.
On their part, Manipur Government officials distributed tourism brochures and CDs about Manipur tourism to the visitors.
Commerce and Industries Minister K Govindas, Principal Secretary O Nabakishore, Director V Tualthang and chairperson of the Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicraft Artisans Cooperative Society Satyabama took part in the exhibition.
