Imphal, February 27 2012:
Taking a sudden but not entirely unexpected U-turn, the Election Commission of India has decided to conduct another round of re-poll in the State and an official announcement may be made tomorrow or the next day.
According to an official source, the ECI decided to conduct re-poll after meeting with representatives of ten different parties of the State for the second time today.
It is speculated that re-poll would be conducted in polling stations which recorded exceptionally high poll percentage and/or where maximum number of proxy votings were detected.
Out of the 523 polling stations against which complaints were received, more than 100 polling stations recorded maximum cases of proxy voting.
Meanwhile, the ECI has sought certain additional information from the State CEO and the information would be provided by tomorrow.
