Death toll rises by 14 more, single day positive cases drop to 330

Even though COVID-19 claimed 14 more lives during the last 24 hours, the State saw a substantial drop in the positive cases as only 330 fresh cases were detected during the same period.
This is the first time in the last six days that the State has logged below 500 positive cases.
On May 11 Manipur logged 592 cases, May 12, 666; May 13, 560; May 14, 726; May 15, 730 and May 16, 677.Till date the figure of 730 recorded on May 15 remains the highest surge in a single day.
All the 14 deaths witnessed during the last 24 hours belonged to Imphal West (9) and Imphal East (5), informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The victims from Imphal West were aged 65 (male), 82 (male), 42 (male), 75 (male), 70 (male), 76 (female), 63 (female), 63 (female) and 47 (female) .
The victims from Imphal East were aged 56 (male), 60 (female), 66 (male), 91 (male) and 70 (male) .
The death toll, after taking into account the latest victims, has reached 592 .
In the meantime, 327 civilians and three CAPF personnel were found infected by the virus at RIMS, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, CMC, Lamjingba Hospital, Sielmat Hospital, Little Clinic, Raj Medicity, Ema Hospital, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Noney and Jiribam.
The civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (127), Imphal East (85), Thoubal (28), Bishnupur (30), Kakching (21), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (8), Chandel (3), Senapati (7), Tameng-long (6), Kamjong (1), Noney (3) and Jiribam (1) .
No positive case was detected out of five air passengers tested today at Imphal airport.
The cumulative number of air passengers tested for COVID-19 at Imphal airport is 4,749 and it includes 111 positive cases.
Air passengers who came to the State on May 14 by Air India flight AI-715 in rows 8-14 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Following recovery, 455 people who had been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (322), CAPF (7), RIMS (23), JNIMS (3), RD Wing (6), BB (11), NSU (24), Shija Hospital (20), Babina Speciality Hospital (6), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (10), Jivan Hospital (7), Bishnupur (14), Tamenglong (1) and Senapati (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 40,059 (general population 36,354 and Central security personnel 3,705).It includes 6338 active cases (general population 6167 and Central security personnel 171) and 33,129 recovered cases (general population 29,600 and Central security personnel 3,529) .
The recovery rate stands at 82.70 per cent.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 3,09,896 people have been vaccinated against the virus in the State.
