Pallam Raju inspects work on Imphal-Jiri stretch

Union Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju today inspected Imphal-Jiribam (NH 37) and made a field assessment of the work progress achieved by BRO with regard to different road development projects.
Later, the Union Minister held a meeting with Chief Minister O Ibobi at 4 pm.
They reportedly discussed about the condition of NH 37 which is the second lifeline of Manipur.
This was followed by another meeting between Pallam Raju and Governor Gurbachan Jagat at 5.30 pm during which the projects being executed by BRO were deliberated.
Earlier, Palam Raju made a field inspection of the projects being undertaken by BRO at Moreh.
A high level team from the Defence Ministry led by Pallam Raju and BRO officials landed at Moreh in a military helicopter at about 1.30 pm.
On landing at the helipad of 9 Assam Rifles, the team led by Pallam Raju was received by IG AR (S) Maj Gen UK Gurung and school children.
There, the Major General briefed the MoS Defence on the security scenario and transport infrastructure of both Moreh and neighbouring Myanmar.

The team then went to Moreh Gate No 4 and inspected the border fencing work being undertaken around Border Pillar No 79 .
Pallam Raju lauded the BRO for executing the border fencing work in time.
Again the Minister was briefed by BRO officials on Lokchao Bridge, 139 Kms long Moreh-Thangphai-New Somtal Road, IndoMyanmar Friendship Road and the dilapidated bridges along Tamu-Kyigone-Kalewa Road.
Pallam stated that he had discussed with BRO officials at Kohima yesterday about upgrading several projects.
He said that the condition of NH-2 and the border fencing work would be reviewed after he reaches New Delhi.
After having lunch at the battalion headquarters of 9 Assam Rifles, Pallam Raju left Moreh for Imphal at about 3.30 pm.
During his visit to Moreh, Pallam Raju was accompanied by DG AR Lt Gen Ravi Shankar, S Corps Commander Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, IG AR (S) Maj Gen UK Gurung, DIG 26 Sector AR Brig Upendra Drivedi, BRO Chief Engineer Brig Arun Joshi, Superintending Engineer Mohanlal, Executive Engineer AK Jain, 9 AR Officiating Commandant Maj Amitabh Ghosal, Moreh ADC Lunminthang Haokip and the Moreh Additional SP .
