Communist party of India, Manipur state council today celebrates 200th Birth Anniversary of Karl Marx at Irabot Bhawan here in Imphal.
Addressing the key note speech, State Secretary of CPI, MSC L Sotinkumar said that a centre for Social Science about Marxism will be set up at every district and added that various books and journals base on the works and ideology of Marx will be published.
Highlighting the importance of Karl Marx in the society he added that the only weapon to break the chains imposed by rich and powerful is only through Marxism.

Sotinkumar further said that the renowned books written by Karl Marx namely "Communist Manifesto and the Capital" has been the guiding light for the oppressed people to obtain an egalitarian society.
He added that the CPI has been fighting tirelessly against neoliberal economic policy under the guiding principles of Hijam Irabot.
HOD of Anthropology Manipur University, Prof MC Arun , speaking on the topic - "Marxism and radical political transformation" said that with the coming of neoliberal economy the proletariat can't be distinguished clearly which is covered mainly many of the multi-national companies.
He further questioned how will the exploitation which is invisible in the present globalisation era be found out and tackle it.
He said that there is the need to find the state apparatus which exploits and find ways to tackle it.
He further said that welfare schemes can't solve the contradiction between the rich and the poor, the oppressed and the oppressor and added that welfare scheme may let the poor lives but will not lift up their living status to an egalitarian society.
The celebration was attended by Social Scientist Th Yaiskul, Retd Prof of Manipur University P Nabachandra, Retd senior scientist ICAR AC Sharma, Environmentalist and Former principal of DM Science G Tomba Sharma and Social Scientist L Thoiren.
Editor of 'Khollao thakhay KH Surchand also spoke on the topic Marxism and Contemporary world.
Earlier, the gathering paid floral tribute to the portrait of Karl Marx, as a mark of respect.
