Year's End - 2020
Moirangthem Minakshi Devi *
The year that moved mountains barely a year to look back on fondly,
Some wept and shivered in utter fear,
Whilst doctors drew up to fight a war to save someone's dear.
The globe is in a battle with pandemic as known,
A veil of darkness upon mankind where mortals await their turn to mourn.
If the year could be given a good name,
Horrendous thy be its only fame.
A year of despair and test for patience,
Clambering each month to a catastrophic end.
Contagious malady unleashed from the East,
Constantly consumed by containing the beast.
Travelling forbidden, nations closed,
Governing the pandemic,confinement imposed.
The future seemed unreal,quite unmade.
The complete year flew, scratching our lungs and tightening our heart.
No easing up, no medical solution, no official medication,
Until now, the very end of the year, we find hope amid uncertainty.
We found an ability in form of vaccine to bounce back to remain determined despite failures.
Nothing but result of hope and resilience.
The year's optimistic end, make notable of all the hardship.
So why not sing praise at the end of this undreamt - of year?
Remember all the harm that has been done.
Be grateful for surviving in the threatful bygones,
And be thankful for awakening us from our ignorant slumber.
Possibly a positive year follows, where the Sunrise with propitiousness,
Where we can do all the shapely things that remained undone
