Virtual overcomes physical presence - Expert unveils N-E face in cyberspace

The Northeast may be standing at the crossroads of time — the alleged physical invasion of “people” into the domain of indigenous communities and the virtual invasion of ideas into the cultural and traditional space of the tribes.
While voices have been raised in demand for the implementation of the British-era Inner-Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur and Meghalaya to physically safeguard the interests of indigenous people, the region has also witnessed a steady increase in the number of people hooked on cyberspace.
