Village chief kidnapped for not supporting bandh

During the general strike, which concluded August 15 midnight, chief of Tuithapi village Khamzasuan was kidnapped by suspected strike supporters from his residence at around 8.30 pm on August 14. The village chief was later rescued by the villagers unharmed. From Vengnom Community Hall, Tuibong where he was kept confined around 11.30 pm, the same day.
Villager alleged that the strike supporters were backed by cadres of Kuki National Organisation/Kuki National Army under tripartite suspension of operation agreement with government of India and government of Manipur.
