US monitored Naga movement during '70s : Wikileaks

Latest data released by Wikileaks on April 8 comprising of over 1.7 million US diplomatic records from 1973 to 1976, covering a variety of diplomatic traffic including cables, intelligence reports and congressional correspondence, show that the US had closely monitored the raging Naga insurgency during the same phase mentioned.
A cable sent by then US ambassador Daniel Patrick Moynihan dated November 15, 1974 summed up the “upsurge in fighting” in Nagaland and commented that the “Indian Army’s stepped up military pressure” and the simultaneous increase in underground activities; the resumption of the “China traffic in trainees” have eliminated the short-term prospects for a “negotiated end” to the two-decade old Naga insurgency.
