The Strange Boy
Rashmi Elangbam *
On a bright afternoon
before the church bells rang
I saw a boy on top of the roof
A boy in a black hoody
whose name I know not
I saw
How he stayed still like a statue
How his eyes looked around the world
as though it was a picture
I saw
How he enjoyed every minute
How he enjoyed just by being there
It was strange to see him there
for never had I met a boy
who was so in love with the world
I wonder to myself
Does he really love the world?
or is he just bored?
Has he lost someone?
or is he there to say goodbye to the world ?
Did he really enjoy being there ?
or has he lost his senses?
When the sun bid goodbye to the world
When the darkness spread to the world
I no longer saw the mysterious boy in the black hoody.
