The Silence
Jitendra Kumar Singh*
The enquiry of my soul
Began with a legible silence
Between you and me.
No truth’s more distinct
Than your aspiring austerity
O beloved of His hut,
In the midst of your eternal fair
Tidal ecstasies of my heart
Take shape in words
But fails my poor pen to ensemble
A thousand feelings subtle
Into a refined art !
They too come with their
Human style , with abundance
Of wealth and skin beauty,
Of mortal languages and ethos,
Of gifts and marriages.
And go back with same.
Yet their expectations ever undone!
Can they ever reach
The height of your absence
Or even feel the depth
Of your presence where
I sing, dance and celebrate
The union of your soul with mine
