Setback for NSCN-K's Khole-Kitovi faction
The Telegraph | Kohima, June 30:
The Khole-Kitovi faction of the NSCN (K) experienced a setback today after the Sumi and Zeliangrong regional groups of the faction resolved to back the S.S. Khaplang faction.
The Sumi tribe is a major force in the NSCN (I-M) as well as both the factions of the NSCN (K). NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu and Kitovi are both Sumi tribesmen from Zunheboto district.
The Sumi group said they would remain loyal to Khaplang and strengthen the national struggle. They also appealed to Nagas to stand firmly behind Khaplang and not to be confused or misled.
The Zeliangrong group also warned against mollified designs of some “notorious elements” to create confusion.
