Sedition case against editor of The Freedom

Manipur police has registered a sedition case against editor of “The Freedom” (now defunct newspaper) RK Ranendrajit alleging that his speech at the celebration of 11th foundation day of the National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) on September 13 at Keishampat Lairembi Lampak was “tantamount to inciter or attempt to incite disaffection” towards the government.
The case was registered under section 124-A (Sedition)/153-B (Imputation and assertions prejudicial to national integration)/120-B (Punishment of conspiracy) of IPC and UA (P)A Act of Imphal police station on September 14 last, an official source Saturday. In his speech, the editor of the defunct daily “openly supported secession and terrorist activities in Manipur”, police alleged.
