Rijiju allays fears over deal
- Naga pact in interest of NE: minister
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, Aug. 5
Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju today said the Centre would not "bypass" the neighbouring states when it signs the final agreement with the NSCN (Isak-Muivah).
The accord signed was just a framework. When the time for a final shape/solution is arrived at, the sentiments of the neighbouring states would be taken into consideration," Rijiju told reporters at Imphal airport after assessing the flood situation ... "The sentiments and concerns of the Nagas should be understood in a holistic manner and the problem must be addressed. At the same time, sentiments of the neighbouring states would not be bypassed. This is not going to be in the interest of one party or community. It will be in the interest of the whole region," he said.
