Revived Yaralpat lake becomes flocking place of migratory birds
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Dec 27
Yaralpat, which was one of the vanishing lakes of Manipur, has now become one of the destinations for migratory birds visiting the state, particularly in the winter season. Thanks to the tireless efforts Kombirei Environmental Development Organization (KEDO), an 11-member voluntary organization, who had confronted all odds in reviving the almost vanished lake.
Yaralpat is a lake associated with the history of Manipur. It is also the home of Kombirei, a flower associated with romantic undertones for Meitei youth. The flower plays a unique part in the life of Meiteis. They use it for offerings at Cheiraoba or Meitei New Year.
