REJOINDER.
I am constrained to issue this rejoinder to a news item that appeared in some local media dated the 9th August, 2017 under the caption, “NPF central media on Neiphiu Rio’s acceptance as interim president.”
In NPF, we have one President and two Working Presidents as enshrined in the NPF Constitution. These three were elected strictly as per the provisions of the Constitution and voted by the active members in the General Convention in 2014 for the tenure 2014-2020. Except these three, there is no other President and there is no vacancy either.
The present arrangement of non-NPF members talking about interim president is simply to create confusion in the mind of the people. Our people are no longer simple as they think. Franklin Pierce Adams says, “ The trouble with this country is that there are too many politicians who believe, with a conviction based on experience, that you can fool all the people all the time.”
Mr. Neiphiu Rio is nobody in the Central Office, he is only a suspended M.P. who was elected on NPF ticket. We have no post of interim president in Central Office. His followers have been going around and fooled some NPF functionaries to sign a paper that they support the leadership of Mr. N. Rio as interim president.
I want to make it clear to my party people that any one who signed that paper lending support to the leadership of Mr. Rio should know himself that he has already left the NPF party at his own. It is nothing but defection. When a person defects from a political party to another, he disowns everything he has and go away including his official designation.
Every NPF Division is, therefore, directed to cross check and update the position and fill up all those vacancies caused by defection of some of our erstwhile NPF members.
(Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu)
President,
NPF (Naga People’s Front)
Central Office H.Q. Kohima
