The Rongmeis have settled in the erstwhile Naga Hills district as early as the First World War. However, it was only in the year 1937 that Ragailong Village (formerly known as Kabul Basti in the Govt. record) was established at Fullerganj Bazaar, the present New Market, Dimapur.
Tangnajeilong, now called Zeliangrong village, at Dhobinala, Dimapur was established by Shri Mobipou Kabui in the plot of land allotted by Shri S.J. Duncan, then Deputy Commissioner, Naga Hills vide Memo No; 119681G, dated Kohima 3/1/50.
