The Telegraph | Robert Sapam | Imphal, July 28:
Powerlifters of Manipur have sought financial assistance from the state government to fund their expenses for the upcoming Asian Bench Press Championship 2015 to be held in Muscat. The Indian Powerlifting Federation had selected six lifters, including Suraj Kumar, Kiran Mala, L. Anandamala Devi, Ch. Jayalaxmi Devi, L. Pusparani Devi and K. Rosida Devi, for the Muscat meet which will be held from September 30 to October 6.
Despite all the success, Pusparani is worried about the expenses for Muscat meet which would be around Rs 1.5 lakh per person. Pushparani hails from a poor family at Kongpal Chanam Leikai in Imphal East. She has pleaded for financial assistance from legislators, the state government and private firms to help her along with her compatriots, so that they may bring more laurels to the country.
