Peace talks with three insurgent groups begin

Peace talks with three insurgent groups that had signed separate tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Centre and state government has commenced, an official source said Thursday, hinting that another MoU for peace process with United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) was likely to ink Friday.
Three militant groups had on February 14 last entered into separate MoUs for peace dialogue with government of India and government of Manipur. The groups were United Revolutionary Front (URF), KCP (Lamphel) group and KYKL (MDF). URF is an apex body of three factions of Kangelipak Communist Party (KCP - KCP (Lanheiba), KCP (Chingkheiganba) and KCP (Sunil Meetei), KCP (Lamphel group) include KCP (City Meetei) and KCP (Taibanganba) factions while KYKL-Military Defense Force (KYKL-MDF) was formed by two factions of KYKL led by Achouba and Athouba.
