'Peace deal an eye-opener for NE militant outfits'
Times of India | Prabin Kalita | TNN | Aug 8, 2015, 06.00 AM IST
"No government can or will agree to a demand for sovereignty. There can be special provisions, though within the ambit of the Constitution. It is a great achievement on the part of the interlocutor, RN Ravi, for convincing the NSCN(IM) leadership. As an ordinary citizen and a former administrator who has been handling these issues, I would prefer a similar understanding with other outfits for lasting peace," he (Former DGP of Assam GM Srivastava) added.
"Khaplang should be handled in a tough way. But with so many outfits in Manipur, the government should concentrate on the state now and allow all these outfits to consolidate as one. What will you offer there and to whom? You cannot divide Manipur...so let them first join hands and something can be worked out in Manipur in the same pattern as in Nagaland," said Srivastava.
