Panel glare on poor NE air connectivity
The Telegraph | Guwahati, Dec. 20:
A parliamentary panel has complained to the Centre that intra-air connectivity in the Northeast has still not improved, as night-landing facilities have not been provided and hangars are not being used.
“Intra-air connectivity in the region is also a big issue and improvement of airports has been continuing since the Eleventh Five Year Plan. Hangar facilities in Imphal, Dibrugarh and Itanagar are yet to be provided. Detailed project reports are ready and the taking up of work is subject to availability of funds,” it said.
The government professes utmost priority to the Northeast, but the allocations to the civil aviation ministry give a different impression when the plan outlay of the ministry was cut by 21.9 per cent.
