A felicitation ceremony of the completion of first batch of the journalists undergoing the Two months ‘Shija Media Fellowship
on Medical Journalism’ was held on 18th Oct 2007 at the Auditorium,Shija Hospitals, Langol, Imphal.
The fellowship is sponsored by Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Imphal.

Union and Dr. Kh. Palin, Chairman cum Managing Director was the Guest of honour and the President of the function respectively. In the small impressive function organized today, many noted editors of print and electronic media were present.
Fellowship certificates were awarded to the 4 (four) journalists on their successful completion of their fellowship programme. The four journalists are Smt. I. Ashalata of Poknapham Daily, Smt. Ng. Liklaileima of Sangai Express, Shri. T. Bishwajit of Naharolgee Thoudang and Shri. S. Enaomacha of Huiyen Lanpao. They were given an opportunity to express their experience during the course of their fellowship programme.
One of the fellow journalists Shri. S. Enaomacha of Huiyen Lanpao expressing his thankfulness to Shija Hospitals and Research Institute and All Manipur Working Journalist Union for arranging such an opportunity for the journalist to get their exposure in the highly expertise area of Medical Sciences, they reaffirmed that now with the knowledge gained they will be able to analyze, investigate and report the actual factual news relating to Medical field.
Shri B. B. Sharma, Editor and the Chief Guest of today’s function highlighted that with the innovative programme of fellowship in Medical Journalism, reported who have gained an insight into the medical world will be able to justify the material being published in various media relating to medical sciences.
He said it will create a synergistic situation wherein the medical fraternity can get the required factual reporting on medical sciences and the media getting to know the complex medical science to a certain extent in context to journalism.
Today’s function Guest of Honour Shri. Hemanta, President, All Manipur Working Journalist Union said that it is a historic day for Manipur in the field of Medical Journalism. This is the first such programme being conducted wherein the Journalist are being given a hand on experience in the field of Medical Sciences.
He has expressed his belief that reporting in the field of Medical sciences will see a change after the journalist gains an insight into this specialized area. He also expressed his thankfulness to the management of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute for their willingness to conduct the Fellowship programme in future so that more journalists can have an insight into the area of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Kh Palin, Chairman cum Managing Director, Shija Hospitals, speaking on the function elaborated on how the idea of starting such a Fellowship programme was conceived. He elaborated on the point that the initiative was to spark an enthusiasm among the journalist fraternity to develop an interest in the area of Medical Science so that medical journalism in Manipur raises the standard.
Taking the opportunity he shared Shija Hospitals’ vision for the future and how Manipur is strategically located in comparison to other state of India when the India Government Look East policy opens up.
He appealed on all to gear up to take the opportunity of the Government policy and avail all the opportunity. He is happy that Shija Hospitals is opened & transparent to the media people to study from the angle of the patients, doctors and management.
