Okram for Jiribam rail project by 2017

As the state faces a shortfall of essential commodities due to a massive landslide on the Imphal-Dimapur highway, the key supply route of land-locked Manipur, chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh has urged the railway authorities to speed up construction of the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal rail line.
He also urged them to deploy more manpower and equipment to ensure its completion by 2017. "The overall progress of the construction of the railway line was 42 per cent and the target date for completion had also been extended from 2016 to 2017," the CM said.
