Northeast team ready for final assault on Everest summit
Times of India | TNN | May 13, 2013, 11.30 PM IST
The first northeast Mount Everest expedition is all set to launch its final assault on the world's highest summit later this week. The team will try to make it to Everest (8,848 metres) on May 17 and 18,
Expedition leader L Surjit Singh said the earlier plan to make a bid for the summit between May 12 and 14 had to be aborted because of worsening weather conditions. During the last acclimatization climb, the expedition members had to return to Base Camp (6,340 metres) after they faced strong wind (blowing at 70-80 mph) and temperature dipping below -30 degree Celsius between Camp II and Camp III.
