New Year resolution of our honorables

First, I don’t understand why we celebrate New Year? Second, I can’t comprehend why we also make New Year resolutions. But most of us indulge in both, we celebrate New Year and at the same time we make some New Year Resolutions too.
The nation wants to know, sorry, we the people want to know the possible resolutions that can be made and actually implemented by our leaders and political masters. We have many parties in the country including kitty parties. We don’t have space to discuss all the parties.
Let us come straight to our tiny but beautiful State, Manipur. Here in our State we have several parties including band-parties (in my marriage the Fire-Brigade band-party did the needful) but let us concentrate only on political parties and their innumerable workers and leaders.
I sincerely expect the following New Year resolutions for our leaders who are ruining, sorry ruling the State (inevitable typo).
Contemplated New Year resolutions of our honorables: –
1. We shall not defame our colleagues by exposing their personal lives (talking nonsense about their wives/girl-friends/ boy-friends etc.).
2. We must take Single-malt scotch only, no compromise with health (surreptitiously, as prohibition is still in vogue).
3. We shall try to reduce the intake of bribes from the people (people should suffer less).
4. We must do the job once we have accepted the bribe (to maintain high political morality).
5. We must try to reduce the number of middlemen; direct dealing is more effective (more profitable ).
6. We must try to reduce the number of tall promises and assurances (credibility at stake).
7. We must try to have a good rapport with the bureaucrats and police (sharing is symbiotic).
8. We must try to maintain law and order in the state at any cost (only orders will not do).
9. We must try to bring more and more funds for the State (for our own upliftment).
10. We must try to open the Eastern Gate as widely as possible (prosperity is waiting for us).
11. We must try to contain the number of Bandhs and Blockades (hurt daily wagers /earners).
12. We shall control our security personals from beating/harassing innocents (to avoid trouble).
13. We must not show- off our licensed or non-licensed guns in public or private (triggers competition).
14. We must go to Delhi or other Cities of the world only when we are duty-bound (reducing pleasure trips save our own hard-earned money).
15. We shall not directly involve in construction/ Thika/ projects (must be given to brother/son/relative).
16. We must not have bad relation with media, otherwise it is detrimental to our activities (print, electronic, social or even un- social media).
17. We must not own any land or theatre or shopping-mall or petrol pumps or gas agencies (benami is fine but careful).
18. We shall not talk anything important on phone (eavesdropping and snooping is now widely legal).
19. We must pay attention only to our own respective constituencies for everything (but talking about the general betterment of the entire people of the State is required).
20. Last, we must tell the truth at least once in a day (appeasing own’s conscience is also necessary).
Along with these implementable resolutions we may also educate ourselves something about the history of new year and new year resolution. According to Googgle Baba the ancient Babylonians are considered to have been the first people to celebrate new year and also make new year resolutions. The Babylonians were doing this some 4000 years ago. Their new year began not in January but in mid- March after the crops were planted.
Babylonians would return borrowed things and objects in the new year. So, we may say that the oldest history of new year celebration and new year resolution belongs to the ancient Babylonians. The proud inheritors of Harrapans, Aryans, Mayans, Cretans, Mongolians, Chinese, Egyptians, Tibetans or even Puyans (those who believe in Puya ) never challenge the claim of the Babylonians.
Anyways let us celebrate the new year as it is linked with sustaining life, enjoyment, prosperity, relations and happiness. One psychologist says, celebrating new year and making new year resolution is indispensably connected with survival, the instinct of human survival.
A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY READERS & SIMPLY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE REMAINING FEW!
