Harping on the "pride of Nagas", Neiphiu Rio has led Naga People's Front (NPF) to power for the third term in Nagaland. Today, the Nagas trust him more than anyone else. He is the man of the hour.
Aware of the Nagas' attachment to the Nagalim (Greater Nagaland) movement, the 63-year-old leader successfully projected himself as someone who could facilitate fruitful talks with the Centre. He also made the Nagas believe in the NPF's motto of "fide non armis" (by faith, not by arms).
