Naga talks enter crucial stage
Morung Express | Dimapur, July 9 (MExN):
The stage has been set for the next round of highest-level talks between the Government of India and NSCN/GPRN, scheduled for next week. According to NSCN/GPRN sources from Delhi, informal talks between the two parties to prepare the ground works and other formalities for the highest level talks, concluded on Saturday. During the two-day informal talks, NSCN/GPRN leaders held discussions with Home ministry officials and Centre’s interlocutor of the peace talks.
When contacted, a high-ranking NSCN/GPRN functionary said that the talks have entered a “crucial stage” and “critical” stage. NSCN chairman Isak Chishi Swu, in his message to his Sumi tribesmen on the occasion of celebration Sumi premier festival ‘Tuluni’ on Friday last, regretted his inability to come to Nagaland to join the celebration, owing to tight schedule involving political talks. Swu in his message also said that the political talks have entered a “crucial stage.” Both NSCN/GPRN chairman Isak Chishi Swu and general secretary Th. Muivah will take part in the highest-level talks, the functionary said.
