NTC deliberates on crucial issues
Nagaland Post | Kohima, Sep 18 (NPN)
Tribal organizations including tribal youth bodies, expressed resentment over the decision of both Central and State governments to eulogize Gaidinliu through construction of the museum-cum library in her memory and backed the stand of the Angami Public Organization (APO) on the issue. This was among other issues deliberated at the five-hour marathon meeting organized by the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) in LCS building Kohima on Friday.
On the recognition of Rongmei Tribe, the NTC president questioned on how the state can accord citizenship to those who do not have a land to be called “theirs”?. He said the youths of Nagaland should raise their voice to oppose the recognition of Rongmei as a tribe in Nagaland.
Lendinoktang also said the government’s move to grant status of indigenous tribe of Nagaland to Tangkhul, Poumai, Rongmei, Mao tribes etc would one day lead to giving similar status to Nepalis or Biharis.
