NTC asks Govt. to re-call Rongmei ST recognition
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, Jul 16 (NPN
Demanding immediate re-call of the government giving Rongmei a recognized Tribe, NTC with signatories from representative of seven tribes Lotha, Chakhesang, Ao, Angami, Sema, Zeliang, Pochury and Rengma stated that the July 23, 2012 Cabinet decision was taken in “hasty manner” by setting aside the orders, memorandums and notifications besides the report of the fact finding committee on the issue and therefore “uncalled for and not sustainable as it is against common interest of the tribes of Nagaland.”
NTC pointed out that when Nagaland was declared the 16th state of the Indian Union, in order to identify the original indigenous inhabitants of the state, the state government issued several orders classifying who were the indigenous inhabitants of the state.
