NSCN to check influx into Nagaland
The Telegraph | Kohima, June 13:
The NSCN (I-M) has said it would take steps to check influx into Nagaland. The outfit, in a circular today, said the NSCN (I-M) resolved to contain the entry of illegal migrants, including all non-Naga migrants residing in Nagaland.
In Dimapur, the NSCN (I-M) issued laminated photo-identity cards, bearing the names, addresses and identification marks of the cardholders. Sources said Dimapur police received several complaints that as much as Rs 250 was being charged per card in some areas.
With this exercise, non-Nagas have to carry at least four identity cards — from student organisations, the administration and from two Naga outfits.
Nagaland home minister Imkong L. Imchen said Naga outfits are no more banned organisations and, therefore, they tax people to sustain themselves.
