NSCN groups in tax war
The Telegraph | Kohima, July 1:
A turf war has begun between the NSCN (Khaplang) and (Khole-Kitovi) factions, claiming one life and injuring three others yesterday. Police said the IED blast at a shop at 3rd Mile, Dimapur yesterday was the handiwork of the NSCN (K) factions over claiming legitimacy in illegal taxation in Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland.
The police said two persons on a blue Pulsar bike threw the bomb inside Ambuja Cement retail shop, M/S Y. Enterprises, located opposite the Assam Rifles Training Centre around 2.30pm.
The Khole-Kitovi faction warned people against paying any tax to the Khaplang group, terming it “an anti-Naga group working against the wishes of Naga people all along”. In retaliation, the Khaplang faction warned anyone collecting tax in Dimapur in the name of NSCN of serious consequences.
The Dimapur-based NSCN group said they would remain loyal to Khole and Kitovi and rivals would not be allowed to collect taxes or conduct any other activity in and around Dimapur.
