NSCN-R hardens stand on truce
The Telegraph | Nishit Dholabhai | New Delhi, Oct. 24:
The Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation), under pressure from security forces, has echoed what Ulfa (pro-talks) said recently, warning New Delhi that in the absence of support, the militants would cross the border to Myanmar. The outfit has told the Centre that the government has failed to provide the outfit with basic camps while it worked for peace in Nagaland. "If some join the NSCN (Khaplang) again, we should not be held responsible," a senior leader of the NSCN (R) said today over phone.
A senior Ulfa leader also recently told The Telegraph that if its members are not rehabilitated, then many of them could join the Myanmar-based Paresh Barua faction. Barua and Khaplang form a loose coalition of rebel groups from the Northeast, in Myanmar.
