NSCN-IM cadres threaten villagers - Nagas, Kukis can't stay together: Outfit
The Telegraph | Samsul Alam | Haflong, Dec. 5:
Suspected NSCN (I-M) cadres have warned Nagas and Kukis not to live in the same village in Assam's Dima Hasao district. The militants said only one tribe can stay in one village.
The warning was issued on Thursday when 10 to 12 gunmen, suspected to be NSCN (I-M) cadres, entered Leike, a Kuki village, around 5pm and searched for its headman. As he was not in the village, they summoned the headman of Hereilo, a Zeme Naga village adjoining Leike. The militants then allegedly beat him up for giving shelter to the Kukis and warned the villagers to vacate the village immediately, sources said.
